At Exelixis, our vision is to be a world-class commercial biotechnology company.We believe that we can achieve this with an approach of focused excellence in everything that we do - in working efficiently, in making data-driven decisions quickly, and in advancing promising compounds rapidly. Already, we have built one of the most impressive oncology development pipelines in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. To date, we have placed more than ten compounds in phase 3, phase 2 or phase 1 clinical trials. These include compounds that target multiple receptor tyrosine kinases simultaneously, as well as compounds that target key points in downstream signaling pathways. Each year, we bring several additional compounds into clinical development, while constantly evaluating our data to ensure that we put our resources behind only those compounds that have real potential to be first-in-class or best-in-class. We believe that these compounds have potential use either as single agents or in combination with other therapies, and that we are building a robust pipeline that will define the future of oncology therapy. Our in-depth understanding of cancer biology and genomics allows us to match the inhibition profiles of our compounds with the biology of particular tumor types in defined patient populations. In addition, our deep pipeline enables us to easily investigate multiple single agent or combination therapeutic strategies for various cancer types and patient populations. In doing so, we will also exploit diagnostics to prospectively define patient populations and treatment regimens when appropriate. Aware that many of today's patients with cancer and other serious diseases have significant unmet medical needs, we are driven by a sense of urgency which mandates that we think large and move fast, pursuing a better way to better medicine. |
